FAQ about Pet Care

Q: What about rawhide chews?
A: We do not recommend that you ever give your dog rawhide chews because they can contain mercury, chromium, hydrogen peroxide and arsenic.  See our N-Bone Treats under Products/PetFood/Dog Food for nutritional substitutes!!!!
Q: What can I use to whiten my dog's teeth?
A: Carrots are a good treat to whiten your dog's teeth. They are also a good substitute for expensive dog treats and are much lower in calories.

Q: When can I get my pet spayed?
A: Most vets will recommend spaying between 6 months and a year old, however, pets can be spayed as young as 8-16 weeks.

Q: Will being spayed change by pet's behavior?
A: There is no evidence that it changes a female's behavior. Male dogs tend to be less dominate and agressive and will roam less.  Male cats will roam less.

Q: What can I do to keep away aggressive dogs?
A: Citronella spray can be found in some pets stores and some sports stores. Dogs hate the smell of it but it is not harmful to them.

Q: How can I get a urine sample from my dog?
A: Attach an empty container such as a margine tub to a yardstick and accompany your dog out to relieve himself/herself.  You can catch the urine spray in the container.  Do not get the very beginning of the spray as it may contain some contaminates.

A: Studies show that 70% of cats have gum disease as early as 3 years old. Brushing will help prevent gum disease.

A: Give your dog an ice cube to lick on, add warm water or low-sodium broth to your dog's food, feed canned dog foof instead of dry, add ice cubes to your dog's water bowl.  Consult your vet about using Pedialyte.  If your dog still refuses to drink, take him immediately to your vet..
