Going On Vacation???
While many more establishments are making travelers welcome with "pet friendly" accomodations, there are still many things to consider if you decide to travel with your pet. Before you take your pet, be prepared for these:
Is your pet comfortable in unfamiliar settings, around unfamiliar people of all ages, sex and cultures, and around other animals?
Is your pet OK with travel noises, ie., traffic congestions, horns, big rigs, etc.?
Is your pet comfortable being left alone in the car, motel room, etc. when you go out to eat, sight see or attend other events?
How long can you leave your pet alone in a car in warm weather?
What if your pet escapes, is lost or stolen?
What if your pet needs emergency care?
What if your pet becomes ill on your trip?
What if you or another member of your party becomes ill on the trip?
Does your pet enjoy or dread traveling?
If you are traveling by car, what happens if you have car trouble or are in an accident?
If you decide to travel with your pet, please take necessary steps to protect yourself and pet. Check out each states' regulation about pets entering and traveling in that state before you go. Carry the necessary proof of vaccinations, shots, medical records and pictures and any papers you have on your pet along with all contacts for yourself and others in case of emergencies.
Worse thing about owning a pet - having to board or find a pet sitter???
According to a recent survey, the number one worse thing about owning a pet is having to board the pet or find a pet sitter when the pet owner needs one. This should not be the worse thing about owning a pet!!! Here's why.
If a pet owner would consider a pet sitter a member of their "pet care team" instead of a necessary obligation, pet owners and pets would be happier and have much more "peace of mind." Pet sitters, veterinarians, groomers, and pet guardians (in the event you are incapacitated or worse) should all be included in a pet owners "pet care team." Build those relationships now - not when you "have to have them."
Pet owners should also take necessary steps to provide basic socialization and obedience skills to their pets. Pet owners should enlist the aid of a pet sitter from the start, not just when vacation time or emergencies arrive. Engage a pet sitter by having them occasionally pet sit and/or dog walk throughout the year even when you don't "have to have them." This allows for the pet sitter, pet owner and pet to become accustomed to one another and to work out any issues that may arise.
Pets are a big responsibility and commitment. Pet ownership should not be taken lightly. With forethought and proper preparations, pet ownership can be a joy not a burden. So do yourself and your pet a favor - enlist the services of a pet sitter/dog walker today!!!
Wanted: Dogs and Cats Wanting Love and Attention
AAA Pet Care Pros is looking for dogs and cats who are alone all day and are anxiously awaiting the return of their moms and dads who arrive home stressed and tired from a hard day at work with little or no energy for their adoring pets.
Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers will visit your furry four legged pent up bundles of energy in your home while you are away and give them a much needed play time, potty break and walk. Give your pet a new friend with lots of love to give.
The Doggie Day Care Alternative
Do you currently take you dog(s) to a doggie day care? While not all daycares are the same, some offer a limited amount of playtime and your dog is at times still confined to a kennel.
Why not consider a visit from a pet sitter/dog walker to your home to have one on one playtime, plenty of love, potty breaks and walks? Your dog will remain in his own familiar surroundings and you won't have to worry with getting him to and from the daycare.
Some dogs love the interaction with other dogs, but many do not. Some are OK with some interaction but quickly wear out and become stressed.
Remember that dogs by nature sleep alot. Dogs typically will sleep 12-13 hours a day and large breed dogs can sleep as much at 16-18 hours a day. So a daily visit by a pet sitter/dog walker can be sufficient for most dogs during the day while you are away.
Doggie Daycare or Pet Sitting/Dog Walking?? Both are alternatives to give your dog a break from being home alone all day.
Only you can determine your needs and that of your dog. A once a day visit from a pet sitter or dog walker may be less expensive than the daycare especially if you have more than one dog. But the main factor is what's best for Fido and his loving owner!!
So consider a pet sitter/dog walker as an alternative to your doggie daycare routine. We'll give him lots of good old lovin' of the two legged variety!!!
Hey, don't forget your cat(s!!) Just because cats are very independent creatures and do not require the same attention as dogs, don't be led to believe that they do not become stressed when you are gone for any length of time.
